ASCAP Writers' Night Spring 2016 | Curb Cafe

Round One | March 1st

Betsy Lane

Betsy Lane, a singer-songwriter with country roots, is ready for a girl takeover in country music, starting with more female songwriters making history.  Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Betsy began taking violin lessons at age five, which sparked her interest to teach herself guitar years later.

She released her second EP “Southern Crazy” in June 2014, and had it break the top 50 US Country iTunes Charts at 46, and peaked at 22 in the UK. Lane followed that release with a tour around the United Kingdom in July-August 2014. Her overall mission is to believe in, inspire, and understand the world’s creativity through her music.

Noreen Prunier

As a student at Belmont, Noreen Prunier has built a following of fans, as well as sparked interest in Nashville publishers leading to collaboration with award-winning songwriters.  Most recently featured as a New and Notable artist on NoiseTrade, Noreen’s latest compilation reached the site's top downloads.

Her latest single "Scary as Hell" speaks of a lost love and the empty promises left with it, which has opened opportunities to work with multi-Grammy award winning country artist Alison Krauss in the 2014 ASCAP Country Workshop.  Currently, Noreen is participating in the 2016 ASCAP GPS program, which allows her to work closely with major publishers.

Brad Blackburn

Inspired by classic songwriters like Don Henley and Paul McCartney, along with more recent artists like John Mayer and Bruno Mars, Brad has been developing his own style of writing and performing since he was 12 years old.

After playing countless gigs in his home state of Texas, Brad made the move to Nashville, TN to follow his passion for songwriting. Now a junior at Belmont University, Brad frequently plays venues like the Bluebird Café and The Listening Room. He is currently recording his second album due March 2016.

Alyssa Newton

Alyssa Newton is a freshman songwriting major from Las Cruces, New Mexico. She writes both country music and Christian worship music. Newton draws inspiration from singer-songwriters like Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, and Kelsea Ballerini and also from worship artists such as Amanda Cooke and All Sons & Daughters.
